Useful measurement with a smaller data footprint.
This policy explains the information The Trend Monitor currently collects, how it is used, and how readers can control first-party analytics.
Last updated July 17, 2026
Information we collect
Our first-party analytics can record the page and referring page, an event such as a view or search, limited event context, and random session and visitor identifiers. The session identifier is stored in session storage; the visitor identifier is stored in local storage.
Affiliate redirect logging may record the destination context, referring page, browser user agent, and a one-way salted hash of an IP address when that production safeguard is configured. Administrative systems also process account and security data for authorized staff.
We do not ask public readers to create an account in the current product. Information sent directly in a correction or contact request is provided voluntarily.
Why we use it
We use this information to operate and secure the service, measure whether coverage helps readers, improve navigation and editorial decisions, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and understand disclosed commercial performance.
Sharing, retention, and safeguards
Information may be processed by service providers that host the application, database, monitoring, or other necessary infrastructure. We do not currently sell reader personal information or use public analytics data for cross-site behavioral advertising.
We retain information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described, security, accounting, or legal obligations. Production retention schedules and vendor terms must be finalized before general availability.
We use access controls, input limits, hashing where appropriate, and operational safeguards designed to reduce risk. No system can promise absolute security.
Your choices and requests
First-party analytics preference
Analytics are enabled in this browser to help us understand whether coverage is useful.
You may also ask about access, correction, or deletion rights that apply in your location. Contact contact@thetrendmonitor.com with enough information to identify the relevant request. We may need to verify the request before acting.
Updates and responsible party
The production operating entity must be identified before general availability. We may update this policy as the service or legal requirements change. Material changes will be reflected by the date above and, when appropriate, a more prominent notice.
